Winter play coming soon!
The winter musical is on its way! Director and Musical Director Katy Cavanaugh, Choreographer Susan Nelson and the cast of The Drowsy Chaperone have been hard at work for weeks putting this ambitious show together. Our stage and costume crew are about to join the party as work ramps up on building an ambitious set and preparing glamorous costumes. How does a shabby New York apartment become a elegant mansion? How do we fly an entire tap dancing wedding party on an airplane to the tropics? You will find out soon!
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, sometimes referred to as ‘a musical within a comedy’ has been hailed as ‘The Perfect Broadway Musical’ as it simultaneously pokes fun at and celebrates the musical theater genre. When a Broadway fanatic plays his favorite cast album, the characters come to life in this hilarious musical farce which takes place in the roaring twenties. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theater producer, an ambitious wannabe showgirl, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan, a ‘drowsy’ chaperone a whole lot of tap dancing, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight!
We are excited to share it all with you on February 8, 9, 10 at 7:00pm. Franklin Theater
(In case of postponement due to inclement weather: Sunday Feb. 11 at 2:00)
Includes some brief mature language – this show should be entertaining for all ages.
