Lila Reid ’11 returns to dance class
Lila Reid, ’11 recently returned to Waynflete and conducted a workshop for the US dancers, Danceflete, on Dec. 12. This was a special opportunity for both our dancers and for Lila to reconnect and share ideas. Welcome back, Lila, to your school and familiar dance studio!

Susan Nelson, Director of Dance
Lila Reid is a 3rd year MFA candidate and Graduate Teaching Fellow in Dance at the University of Oregon. After graduating from Waynflete in 2011, Lila attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and received her BA in Dance and classical Latin. Lila also completed the Public Education Teacher Licensure program in Dance grades K-12 and became the first certified Dance Teacher for Public Education to be sponsored by Mount Holyoke College in 2015. For the past three years, Lila has been a MFA graduate student and Teaching Fellow in Dance at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Lila teaches undergraduate technique courses including modern, ballet, jazz, Hip Hop, Ballroom, and Contact Improvisation. Over this past summer, Lila was on faculty at the Southern Vermont Dance Festival and was an Emerging Choreographer with the Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company in Florida. She also teaches at a community center in Eugene as a line dance instructor for adults ages 50+. Lila is currently completing her Master’s thesis research, which is focused on how sensory elements of cross-idiomatic dance partnering can shape collaborative process for choreography. She is premiering an original screendance as the culmination of her research in January 2018. During this same evening, Lila will also be premiering a collaborative project with fellow Waynflete alumna, Boston-based Lindsey Spratt ’11. Lindsey and Lila have been working through video chat rehearsals to unravel themes of womanhood and contemporary issues for women in this distance-constructed solo. Lila is excited to be returning to Waynflete from December 12-20th to work with students in the Dance Department!
