A Cry of Players
Waynflete Drama will present William Gibson’s A Cry of Players on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 6–8, at 7:00 p.m. in Franklin Theater. It is suitable for audiences over the age of 13.
The play is a fictional account of the life of William Shakespeare as a young man in Stratford. Called “a brilliant work,” A Cry of Players deals with the early, troubled years of the budding poet of Avon, whose ultimate destiny will prove far greater than his hopes can conceive. Featuring a large ensemble cast, this show is a classic about a classic and is directed by James Carlisle.
A Cry of Players is the first production in Waynflete Drama’s “Shakes-year” celebration of the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth. Look for students performing Henry V in the Maine One Acts Festival this spring.
